In 2019 the residents of Radcliffe sent a clear message to Bury council saying that enough is enough and that there was an alternative. Now in 2024 Radcliffe First have 8 out of the 9 Councillors in the town.

The fight for the rest of the Borough has begun and the Bury Independents party has been formed. They will be ‘the alternative’ for residents within Bury, Prestwich, Ramsbottom, Tottington and Whitefield in the local elections taking place on Thursday 2nd May 2024.

Councillors of the mainstream political parties, Labour, Conservative etc. are subjected to ‘the whip system’ in which they may be ‘forced’ to vote ‘on block’ on party lines. They may therefore actually vote for something that is not to the benefit of the constituents. Bury Independents candidates will be free to vote as individuals based on their own political ideology and conscience fighting for the ward they represent.

A public meeting is to be held at the Polish Social Centre, Back East Street, Bury BL9 0RU at 7pm on Wednesday 24thJanuary 2024.

The aim of the meeting is to gather public opinion and discuss a way forward for a better future for the Borough and of course an opportunity to meet the Team behind the Bury Independents party.
